A positive decision for Korean Hyundai Motor Company in the dispute with Rospatent, the Russian Patent Authority, was issued by the Russian Patent Court. Hyundai started the dispute with this agency after the latter’s refusal to register Hyundai Autron trademark on the grounds that it contained no fundamental differences from other trademarks of the company. After all the possible appeals in the registration agency, Hyundai representatives decided to file a lawsuit in the Intellectual Property Rights Court. Proceedings were initiated in the case and after a number of hearings, the Court issued the above-mentioned judgment in favor of the plaintiff. The court found the plaintiff’s arguments convincing, based on the fact that the trademark has all the necessary attributes of uniqueness (the font, color, and the phrase). On March 30, Silaev issued the positive decision.
