Last week the Federal Institute of Industrial Property (FIPS) published a list of the best Russian patents for 2015. The judges decided that there should be not 100, as one may expect, but 92 patents. It suggests that the majority of inventions are below the level on which they can enter the national or international arena.
It should be specifically noted that in the list there are two patent of Kaspersky Lab, one of the most successful company in the world IT market. One patent, as it was expected, concerns computer security and another is from the field of virtual machine management, which is pretty unusual for an antivirus software manufacturer. It is not clear if this is a sign that specialists from the Lab decided to extend the area of their interests or the invention is still in the field of antiviral applications. One thing is clear: Kaspersky Lab has always been, and remains a patent leader among Russian IT companies, and this company enlarges its IP portfolio year after year, going to the national level. Congratulations to Eugene Kaspersky!
